Match 55 : Mumbai Indians vs Delhi Daredevils

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

Venue : Pretoria
May 21, 2009 @ 4 PM IST

It cannot get more insignificant than this, and this has been one of those very few insignificant matches this IPL. Delhi Daredevils are already in and Mumbai Indians are already out. If you would want to see the Master in action before he slips out of the team for the ICC T20 world cup and T20 mode, here is one last chance. Otherwise, don’t bother.

Match 47 : Chennai Super Kings vs Mumbai Indians

Saturday, May 16th, 2009

Venue : Port Elizabeth
May 16, 2009 @ 4 PM IST

The Super Kings are just a win away from confirming their semifinal berth. The Mumbai Indians are in a need to not give even a win away to keep their hopes alive. It’s the battle between the Master Blaster and the Captain Cool. And like it has always been throughout the tournament, it’s all about who dominates the last five overs of the match that is going to decide this one! Both teams are dear to me and I don’t want to take a pick here! :(

Match 45 : Mumbai Indians vs Rajasthan Royals

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

Venue : Durban
May 14, 2009 @ 8 PM IST

Mumbai Indians won a blinder of a contest against Kings XI and today would be aiming for a hat-trick against the Royals. The Royals on the other hand have been losing their key players one by one. Kamran Khan was first and now the Spin wizard himself is out with a hamstring injury. Only a miracle can save the Royals and it is pretty clear that that won’t happen today.

Match 42 : Mumbai Indians vs Kings XI Punjab

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

Venue : Pretoria
May 12, 2009 @ 8 PM IST

This is going to be a killer of a match; especially as it comes under the backdrop of a thumping Deccan Chargers’ win yesterday. Mumbai Indians need to win this one to keep their semifinals’ hope alive and so do the Kings XI. This one match is going to be a real life demonstration of the survival of the fittest as the two teams fight for that one spot in the last four. I really want the Mumbai Indians to rock this one!

Match 38 : Mumbai Indians vs Royal Challengers Bangalore

Sunday, May 10th, 2009

Venue : Port Elizabeth
May 10, 2009 @ 4 PM IST

The Royal Challengers will find themselves in a weird position today. Not too frequently do they get to play with someone who are below them in the points table. But that would be too harsh for a Mumbai side that has won far too many matches by close margins, and it is time for them to show their mettle and find their ways into the semis which is still a distant possibility. The Mumbai Indians will be looking to fire on all cylinders today.

Match 35 : Delhi Daredevils vs Mumbai Indians

Friday, May 8th, 2009

Venue : East London
May 8, 2009 @ 8 PM IST

Delhi Daredevils are on top. Mumbai Indians are down, but not out. Even though they are currently at the 7th position on the table, the Mumbai Indians still have a healthy positive net run rate which tells you how comprehensively they have beaten teams when they have done so, and how narrowly they have lost the matches that they lost. It is just a matter of getting back the momentum. But with Delhi as opponents, that may not be easy as they have clearly been the most successful team this IPL. May the better team win!

Match 32 : Deccan Chargers vs Mumbai Indians

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

Venue : Pretoria
May 6,2009 @ 8 PM IST

Deccan Chargers losing three in a row is not something you would have expected after the first week into the tournament. But now that is happening, you can expect the Chargers to bounce back hard this time. Mumbai Indians are also losing and one can only hope that they show up some fight this time as they have always done but end up winning, this one at least. I think Deccan Chargers have an edge in this one.

Match 28 : Royal Challengers vs Mumbai Indians

Sunday, May 3rd, 2009

Venue : Johannesburg
May 3, 2009 @ 8 PM IST

The Royal Challengers are in a funny position now. They are still the ones to be competing for the last spot, but they just won a blinder against Kings XI in the previous encounter. Now, that is definitely something that is going to boost the morale of the team post the departure of Pieterson. But Mumbai Indians are no stopovers. Every one from Sachin, Sanath, Duminy to Malinga is in the best of forms. And it takes more than just a couple of good overs from the opposition to get through this opposition.

Match 23 : Mumbai Indians vs Knight Riders

Friday, May 1st, 2009

Venue : East London
May 1, 2009 @ 4 PM IST

Sometimes you do feel sorry for Shahrukh and his men. They are not that bad, actually and still end up losing every other match. Will they end up yet again on the losing side this time too? Mumbai lost their previous match by a whisker and that was terrible. Sachin’s boys would be dying to come back strong in this match. Who is going to win this one?

Match 20 : Kings XI Punjab vs Mumbai Indians

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

Venue : Durban
April 29, 2009 @ 8 PM IST

Sachin and Jayasuriya are in the forms of their lives, if the last match was anything to go by. When both of them are going to strike form at the same time, it is close to impossible for the other team to not be demoralized and lose the match. And even the Kings XI fans shouldn’t mind a bit if they are going to lose to Sachin. What say?
